A story set in the war torn Sudan told from the perspective of an orphaned boy forced by war to run to a refugee camp, and a girl more than 20 years later who has to walk very far to get disease ridden drinking water for her family. Ultimately, the boy immigrates to the USA and creates an organization that helps the girl's village dig a lifesaving well.
Man speaks about his cause in churches. No religion.
Sensitively written, but the horrible conditions are quite stark and the boy watches his uncle shot by enemies.
