Boy imagines that if he gets stuck in the elevator he will climb out the top and up the cables like they do in the movies. Children call each other nuddy "Nuddy's short for nudnick, which means stupid in a language my great grandparents spoke and pretty much nobody speaks anymore" Their parents think "TV rots your brain unless you're watching a show that teaches you how to cook something". Boy thinks they should call an exorcist to their house to figure out why things break all the time for no reason. email, google docs. Boy wonders about survival of the fittest and its connection to what he learned in fifth grade science " animals adapting to their environment millions of years ago". Detailed descriptions of the superstitious and magical beliefs of people in his community. Centerfold has color photos of the boy and his inventions. Primitive toilet collapses while girl is "squatting" on it-- they have to dig her out.
