An orphaned girl solves mysteries in the castle with the help of magical dresses
Grades: 5 - 8

Sequential
Molly Pepper, an orphan, is the daughter of a brilliant female inventor, Cassandra Pepper. They have many adventures together as Molly constantly tries to get her mother the recognition she feels she deserves. The author stresses the prejudices of the day - against women and people of other cultures - perhaps a bit too much. Molly goes through each adventure with Emmett Lee, a Chinese boy, and there is some salty language occasionally.
Grades: 4 - 6

A girl discovers she can stop time by saying her name out loud. She finds out that very few people have this type of unusual ability including her aunt and a younger, brilliant boy. She struggles with the temptation to take revenge against mean students and her principal when she stops time- she often can't resist.
Grades: 6 - 9

Teen
Loosely sequential series - some can be skipped. This is an exciting, well-written series about a teen recruited as a spy for MI6. A lot of of violence, cruelty, and cold blooded killing - parents need to weigh the value of giving their teen boys something they will like to read, with exposure to violence. Boy generally kills only indirectly or by accident, until end of book 9, when he deliberately shoots someone. Books are loosely connected with a running plotline. Series is mostly clean, with some references to illegitimate relationships, and several non-detailed references to Alex liking a girl (noted in comments). Occasional language in the damn/hell variety. (for information on books not listed, contact kosherbooklist@gmail.com)
Grades: 4 - 6
Series about a very wealthy girl who goes to an English boarding school. Overall, she is a relatively positive role model in that she is unspoiled despite her wealth and has a positive view of people. There is a parallel boys school that the girls interact with very often and quite a bit of boy/girl crushes are mentioned. Also romance between teachers. Children speak very casually to teachers, complimenting them on clothing and hairstyles, trying to set them up, and calling them shortened names.

Inappropriate
Sequential Series is set in future where having more than 2 children is punishable by death. A boy who is a third child meets a girl who is one also and has to decide if he wants to remain hidden or try to live a normal life. Lots of vague mentions of child being unexpected, about government forcing abortions, about doctors "fixing it" so won't have more children. Later books have boy/girl, hashkafa issues
Grades: 3 - 5
Most of the books in this series involve a boy and a girl who are best friends (boy is a year younger than the girl) who have animal adventures.Girl's adoptive parents are veterinarians (occasional mention that her birth parents were killed in an accident, but she never thinks about them since she loves her adoptive parents). The relationship between the two friends is completely innocent, but they often have sleepovers and go on vacations with their families, etc. Very pro animal rights. Girl is a vegetarian because she is an animal lover. Many of the books revolve around, or at least mention holidays like xmas, halloween, and easter, but little or no religion. The "Hauntings" series involve ghosts of animals- not scary ghosts. The "pets" series is slightly easier reading.
Grades: 6 - 8
Kids are endowed with power to change into animals, in order to fight aliens who are taking over the world by taking over people's brains. Lots of violence.
