Author: Smith, Roland
Grades: 5 - 9
Can be suitable for teenaged readers
This is a mostly clean series about a step-brother and step-sister who are involved with an off-record spy operation, all without the knowledge of their parents. 13 year old step brother and 15 year old step-sister treat each other like brother and sister, including sleeping in the same room and comforting negiah or almost-negiah - totally innocent. Important sidestory in book, is that girl's real mother, a spy who was declared dead, actually faked her own death and is alive, meaning that her father is illegitimately re-married - this point is mentioned but not dwelled on. Kids lie to save themselves or their mission, including lying to parents. Mother and father are rock stars and perform to wild acclaim, including on TV. Kids use cell phones, texting, and internet. Violence: fights, explosions, some deaths. A main character has supernatural power of teleportation and immortality, which he obtained by being exposed to the "Holy Grail" = the Cup of C-----.
